The Iowa Mennonite boys soccer team opened the season Thursday with a trip to No. 12 in class 1A Solon.

The Spartans flexed their muscles in a 6-0 shutout win. The Spartans used the advantage of the wind at their back to build a 3-0 lead in the first half. The second half was more of the same with the Spartans quickness playing a big factor in three more tallies. Brandan Childs led the way for Solon with a pair of goals. IMS had one shot on goal in the match, that came from Isaiah Swantz. Cole Yoder finished with three saves in goal for IMS. With the loss Iowa Mennonite is now 0-1 on the year and hosts Highland Tuesday.
