Youth spring turkey hunting season has begun, and the first regular season for all hunters is April 18 – 21. Four short seasons will be open for shotgun hunters, while bowhunters may hunt during any of the seasons April 18-May 2.  Jim Coffey with the Iowa DNR tells KCII-News that the return of the turkey in Iowa is one of the great conservation success stories in the United States. Coffey says hunters should follow the rules provided by the DNR, and safety comes first. He says that turkey season is a great time of year — one can go hunting in the morning, collect morels at the same time, and relax and go fishing in the afternoon.
