A piece of land is going to be gifted to the Washington Community School District. The Washington County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday morning to draft an agreement to gift a piece of land next to Stewart Elementary School. Auditor Dan Widmer explained it’s a 10 foot wide piece of land. Daniel Kitchen explained the piece of land near where Stewart West stood was owned by county for about four decades and came to own it through tax sale. A public hearing will be held in April regarding the land transfer. A $2.3 million bond issue passed last June to add six classrooms and a daycare center onto the elementary school.
