There are 11 telecommunicators with a total 134 years of experience answering 911 calls in Washington County. This staff deals with a variety of calls from a neighbor’s dog barking to domestic violence cases, from fatal car accidents to plane crashes. Supervisor Jack Seward shared his thanks during Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The telecommunicators are often the first to respond to an emergency and dispatch other emergency crews from police officers to firefighters to the scene. All of these men and women who answer 911 calls are applauded this week during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
