A Washington alum has completed the final conference golf tournament of his collegiate career earlier this week. Lewis University senior Alex Thode, a 2012 Washington graduate, competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s men’s golf tournament last Sunday through Tuesday at the Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, IL. Thode won the GLVC men’s golf individual championship as a junior by nine strokes.

The Demon alum was unable to repeat as the conference’s individual golf champion, finishing in a tie for fifth place with a three round score of 215. Thode’s top five finish did earn him All-GLVC honors for a second straight season. The Flyers finished fifth in the team standings, carding 881 strokes over the 54-hole event.

Thode and the Flyers qualified for their fourth straight NCAA regional golf tournament next month, making the event as an at large bid.  The 10-team 2016 Midwest/Central Regional is scheduled for May 2-4 at The Meadows in Allendale, Michigan.
