Main Street Washington is in a fundraising emergency to keep their programs for area businesses and events in downtown Washington. By Friday morning the group was over halfway to their goal of $20,000 with $10,700. Director of the non-profit Sarah Sadrakula adds $2,000 has been raised by Zoe Kane with her #20forMSW campaign.

Sadrakula explains they started their annual fundraising in the fall and had poor response, whether people forgot or decided to give to other projects in the area this year. By poor response, she means they only received about half of what they’d expected. Usually Main Street Washington receives $35,000 to $40,000 in pledges from area businesses.

Some of the events they organize include the holiday lighted parade, breakfast with Santa, Fashion Week and Savor Washington. They also have a free design service for architectural renderings and have helped with rehabilitating the downtown with projects like the State Theater facade and the Dodici’s night suites.
