Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control. One way to protect your skin and prevent melanoma is by using sunscreen.

Danielle Pettit-Majewski, administrator of Washington County Public Health, recommends using a broad spectrum sunscreen, even when it’s cloudy, because the ultra violet rays from the sun are in the atmosphere. She adds broad spectrum sunscreen will block ultra violet A and B rays from the sun. Also, use at least an SPF 15 and reapply it every couple of hours.

In 2012, nearly 68,000 people in the U.S. Were diagnosed with melanomas of the skin, 39,600 of which were men.
