Monday marked the first time all season the Washington Demon girls’ golf team didn’t take first place honors in a meet they competed in.The Demons welcomed the Fairfield Trojans and the Mount Pleasant Panthers to the Washington Golf and Country Club for a Southeast Conference triangular. The three teams were separated by five strokes with Fairfield winning the meet with the lowest score of 188. Mount Pleasant finished three shots behind the Trojans to take second place, while Washington finished in third with 193 strokes.

Washington sophomore Sarah Nacos carded the Demons’ best nine hole round, scoring a seven over 42 on a windy day at her home course. Nacos tied with Fairfield’s Lindsay Repp for medalist honors. Senior Deanna Peiffer was the only other Demon golfer to finish her round in under 50 strokes, recording a 13 over 48. Sophomore Allison Vogel concluded the nine hole event in 52 strokes, while senior Brenna Burlingame and sophomore Megan Strabala had identical scores of 53 strokes.

The Demon girls’ golf team will next be in competition Thursday afternoon, hosting a Southeast Conference triangular against the Fairfield Trojans and the Keokuk Chiefs.
