Parent-teacher conferences at Washington High School will look a bit different this week, as parents will have a chance to go throughout the building to see what their student’s day looks like. High School Spanish teacher Regina Schantz explains they decided to revamp it to get more parents in attendance. Traditionally teachers all set up in the gym in commons and parents visit from table to the next, but this week parents will get their student’s grade sheet and then visit with teachers in or near their classrooms. Teachers will showcase what their classes have been working on lately. Schantz says it gives parents a chance to see the school and indoor garden, while going through what their child sees each day.

The Washington High School parent-teacher conferences will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and there will be a book fair in the library, an art show, cooking demonstrations and children’s events in the gym.
