Two Washington County boys’ soccer teams will battle one another in rural Riverside tonight. A busy week of games concludes for the Highland Huskies as they host the Washington Demons in their home opener. Tonight marks the third game in four nights for the Huskies, while this is Washington’s second game this week.

The Demons opened their season on Tuesday in Columbus Junction, battling the Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union Wolves in a non-conference match. The Wildcats shut out the Demons, 3-0. Washington recorded seven shots on goal, but were unable to get any into the back of the net. Demon sophomore goalie Thomas Zimmer made 15 saves in the net.

The Huskies are also searching for their first win of the season, dropping games to the Iowa Mennonite School (3-0) Tuesday and to the Danville Bears (11-0) Thursday.

Kickoff of tonight’s non-conference soccer game is set for 5 p.m. at Highland High School. Listen to tomorrow’s KCII Sports Page for results from the game.
