In July, two board members will be needed to fill trustee vacancies on the Washington Free Public Library’s board. The seven-member board is appointed by the mayor and oversees the library’s services, policies, planning and expenditures. Two Washington residents are needed to fill the vacancies. The library’s mission is: “Washington Free Public Library believes in the freedom to read and learn, and the freedom to compare and express ideas. WFPL strives to provide educational, cultural and social enrichment for all residents of the city of Washington and surrounding areas.”

The term is six years and the board meets on the second Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. Those interested in serving as a library trustee are asked to contact library director Debbie Stanton at 319-653-2726 or debbie.staton@washington.lib.ia.us.
