The Winfield-Mt. Union High School jazz band competed in the Iowa Jazz Championships this week and walked away winners. The Wolves were the top band in Class 1A in Des Moines. Last year W-MU’s jazz band finished in fifth place at the Iowa Jazz Championships.
Mid-Prairie’s jazz band also competed at the championships in Class 2A. All of the classes played during the day and the top two bands from each class then played Tuesday evening in the finals.
