Here are the results so far from day two of the Iowa Girls and Boys State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines.
7 p.m. update
Sigourney senior Peyton Crawford concluded his high school track career in the Class 1A boys’ discuss. Crawford’s top throw was measured at 125’11”, the 23rd best throw.
The Highland Huskies boys’ distance medley team of senior Spencer Wieland, junior Bill Burton, junior Jake Wood, and senior Keiffer Sexton posted a top-10 performance. The crew crossed the finish line in 3:44.2, the seventh fastest time.
6:45 p.m. update
Two area girls’ track team are moving on to championship Saturday in the Class 1A girls 4×100 meter relay. The Highland Huskies group of freshman Sarah Schneider, junior Kelsey Hora, sophomore Sydney Black, and freshman Aly Stokes clocked their preliminary time at 51.56, ranking them seventh in qualifying. The Sigourney Savages crew of freshman Summer Barthelman, sophomore Brooke Waechter, sophomore Leah Carter, and sophomore Autum Barthelman crossed the finish line in 51.84, the eighth best time in the preliminary race. The WACO Warriors squad of junior Kasey Sutton, junior Halle Kissell, sophomore Kiana Miller, and senior Angel Frier clocked a time of 52.54 seconds, finishing 15th.
The Winfield Mount Union Wolves boys’ track team will also be running in Class 1A boys’ 4×100 meter relay. The group of senior Zach Davis, junior Broc Mullin, junior Bryce Robison, and senior Ross Vantiger ran their preliminary race in 44.99 seconds, earning the eighth and final qualifying spot.

A pair of area boys track teams participated in the Class 1A 4×200 meter relay. The Sigourney Savages group of Peyton Crawford, junior Ben Appleget, junior Will Magill, and junior Bryce Goldman crossed the finish line in 1:36.36, the 22nd best time. The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves crew of senior Ross Vantiger, freshman Brandon Snowden, junior Brock Mullin, and sophomore Mitchell Niebuhr clocked a time of 1:37.66, finishing 23rd overall.
Two area girls’ track team took part in the Class 1A 4×200 meter relay. The Highland Huskies squad of freshman Sarah Schneider, freshman Kristy Thomann, freshman Aly Stokes, and junior Kelsey Hora posted a time of 1:50.11, the 12th best finish. The Lone Tree Lions team of freshman Chloe Jacque, junior Elena Sieverding, sophomore Marisa Swails, and senior Paige Doehrmann crossed the finish line in 1:53.01, placing 23rd.

Iowa Mennonite Rubye Nye participated in the Class 1A 400 meter hurdles. She finished her race in 1:11.84, placing her 23rd overall.
5:40 p.m. update
Sigourney freshman Summer Barthelman will leave the state track meet with a medal in the Class 1A girls’ 400 meter hurdles. She finished her race in 1:07.4, placing her seventh overall and earning the Savages two team points.
5:20 p.m. update
W-MU senior Ross Vantiger competed in the Class 1A 400 meter hurdles. His concluded his race in 59.22 seconds, placing 18th overall.

Iowa Mennonite School sophomore Emma Beachy participated in the Class 1A girls’ discuss throw. Her farthest toss of 94’7″ was the 20th best mark in the 24 person field.

Lone Tree junior Niko Gosnell posted a top-five finish in the Class 1A high jump. He cleared 6’3″, placing him third and earning the Lions six points.
Mid-Prairie junior Levi Duwa participated in the Class 2A discuss competition. His top throw of 136’6″ was the 21st best in the field.

Sigourney sophomore Autum Barthelman has advanced to championship Saturday in the Class 1A girls’ 100 meter hurdles.

WACO senior Bryce Achen is advancing to the tomorrow’s finals of the Class 1A 110 meter hurdles. His preliminary time was clocked at 15.77 seconds, placing him sixth overall.
1:30 p.m. update
Washington freshman Isabel Bailey participated in the Class 3A long jump competition. Her best leap was measured at 14’8.75″, placing 20th out of 24 competitors.
Pekin senior Kaysha Dodson posted a top-five finish in the Class 2A girls’ high jump. She cleared 5″1′, tying her for third place with Albia sophomore Isabelle Gradwell.

The Washington Demons posted a top-15 performance in the preliminary race of the girls’ 4×100 meter relay event. The squad of junior Makenzi Marek, freshman Jenah Greiner, senior Amber Salow, and senior Kelly Wheeler clocked a time of 51.39, the 13th best performance.
The Columbus Wildcat boys’ 4×100 meter team of junior Ruben Paz, senior Devon Henry, sophomore Abel Mena, and senior Mauricio Ramirez earned a top-15 performance in the Class 2A field. The group clocked a time of 44.25 seconds, the 12th fastest.

Two area boys’ track teams competed in the Class 2A distance medley event. The Pekin Panthers crew of junior Tyler Copeland, senior Chase Copeland, sophomore Isaiah Wittrock, and sophomore Chandler Eckley clocked the sixth best time at 3:38.55. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks group of freshman Quinn Schmidt, sophomore Keaton Duwa, sophomore Cary Schaefer, and sophomore Peyton Miller finished in 15th place, clocking a time of 3:42.51.

Columbus junior Shaina Boyd placed in the top five of the Class 2A girls’ 400 meter hurdles. She crossed the finish line in 1:06.51, finishing with the fifth fastest time. Boyd earned the Wildcat girls’ track team four points.

The Washington Demon girls’ 4×200 meter relay team of senior Amber Salow, freshman Isabel Bailey, freshman Jenah Greiner, and senior Kelly Wheeler competed in the finals in Class 3A. The group crossed the finish line in 1:50.54, the 23rd fastest time.

Pekin senior Shelbie Williams posted a top-five finish in the Class 2A girls’ discuss competition. Her top throw of 126’8″ was measured as the fifth farthest in the field. William’s performance earns the Panthers’ four team points.

The Columbus Wildcats 4×200 meter relay team of junior Ruben Paz, senior Devon Henry, sophomore Abel Mena, and senior Mauricio Ramirez were disqualified from the race.

Washington junior Jessie Buchholz represented the Demons in the preliminary race of the Class 3A girls’ 100 meter hurdles. She completed the race in 16.64 seconds, placing 18th out of 24 competitors.

The Washington boys’ track team concluded their state meet this morning in the preliminary race of the Class 3A boys’ 110 meter hurdles. Junior Caleb Bex crossed the finish line in 16.08 seconds, the 15th best performance in the 24-person field.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks competed in this mornings Class 2A girls’ distance medley. The crew of senior Emily Cayton, senior Alex Rath, junior Greta Schmidt, and sophomore Anna Hostetler clocked a time of 4:20.93, the 15th fastest in the field.
