A pair of Washington Demon alums were honored Sunday afternoon for their contributions to the Cornell College Rams’ baseball program (20-11 overall). The Rams recognized 12 seniors Sunday during a Midwest Conference doubleheader against the Knox College Prairie Fire (6-22 overall), including 2012 Washington Demon graduates Jared Henry and T.J. Rausch.

Cornell split the doubleheader with Knox College, falling 5-4 in game one before bouncing back for an 11-2 victory in game two in eight innings. The triumph over the Prairie Fire gave the Rams their 20th victory of the season, surpassing last season’s win total and gave the Class of 2016 their 72nd collegiate victory in a Cornell uniform.

Sophomore Walker Breard, a 2014 Washington graduate, concluded the game two scoring for the Rams with a two-run home run in the eighth inning, pushing the Cornell advantage to 11-2. It was Breard’s eighth home run of the year, recording seven more than any other Rams’ player this season.

Cornell swept Saturday’s doubleheader versus Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, taking game one by a score of 3-0, and winning game two 7-2. The Rams return to the diamond tomorrow, hosting the Coe College Kohawks (14-16) for one game. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Ash Park in Mount Vernon.
