The home openers for both the Washington Demon baseball and softball teams are scheduled for tonight.

The Demon softball team (0-1 overall) is searching for their first win of the season this evening as they host the Columbus Wildcats (0-1 overall) at Washington’s softball field. Washington’s season opener was held Monday in rural Riverside, facing the Highland Huskies (2-0 overall) in a non-conference softball game. Highland manufactured seven runs, six in the first four innings, to propel the Huskies to a 7-3 victory. Columbus began their season in West Burlington Tuesday, falling 13-1 to the Falcons. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Demon baseball team (1-0 overall) opened their season last night on the road, squaring off against the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets (0-1) in a non-conference matchup. Washington began the season on a positive note, winning their opener, 10-1. The Demons score four runs a piece in the fifth and sixth innings to blow the game open. Washington will have a quick turnaround, playing two games tonight against non-conference foe the Clear Creek Amana Clippers in their first games of the season.
