The postseason run for the Washington Demon boys’ golf team began Thursday at the Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington. The playoff opener pitted the Demons versus golfers from Clear Creek Amana, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, Notre Dame/West Burlington, Solon and West Liberty; The teams with the lowest two scores advance to next Wednesday’s district meet.

Washington advanced their season into next week, carding the second best score of the day at 327 strokes. Keokuk won the sectional championship with 321 shots. The Demons best individual score came from sophomore Dalton Myers, who placed fourth with an 18-hole round in 80 strokes. Three players finished in a tie for first place with 79 strokes, including Keokuk’s Jake Cook and Damon Wolter. Senior Derek Anding and junior Tanner Coleman each posted rounds of 81 strokes.

Keokuk and Washington advance to Wednesday’s district tournament  at the Amana Colonies Golf Course. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
