After nine holes of golf at the Elks Golf Course Monday, the Washington Demon boys’ golf team found themselves in a tie with one of their league opponents. The Demons traveled to the Keokuk-based golf course for a Southeast Conference Triangular versus the Chiefs and the Fairfield Trojans.

The top four golfers for Washington and Keokuk were tied at 151 strokes, forcing the teams to use their scratch golfers to decide the match. Each school’s fifth place golfer carded a 42, forcing the team’s to use their final varsity player’s score to decide the victor. Keokuk’s Damon Woltor anchored the Chiefs with a nine over 44, besting Washington’s Derek Anding by two strokes (+11; 46) to earn the triangular victory.

Sophomore Dalton Myers carded the best nine hole score of the day for the Demons, scoring a one over 36. Junior Tanner Coleman and sophomore Jacob Van Osdol each finished the rounds in 38 strokes. Junior Noah Enfield posted the final score for Washington, shooting a four over 39. Junior Mason Rich had the team’s fifth lowest score, finishing the event in 42 strokes.

Washington’s boys’ golf team returns to Southeast Conference competition tomorrow afternoon, returning to the Sheaffer Golf Course in Fort Madison for a league triangular versus the Bloodhounds and the Mount Pleasant Panthers. Tee time is set for 4 p.m.
