The postseason run for the Washington Demon girls’ golf team begins today. Last year’s Class 4A state champions will open their playoff run at the Oakland Acres Golf Course in Grinnell, participating in the regional first round against golfers from Cedar Rapids Xavier, Central DeWitt, Clear Creek Amana, Keokuk, Maquoketa, Lisbon-Mount Vernon, Marion, Mount Pleasant, North Scott, and Oskaloosa. The top two teams and top five individuals will advance to the next level of play.

The Demons enter the postseason with the lowest 18-hole team score in the state, tallying an average of 352 strokes. Washington owns the two lowest individual 18-hole scores in Class 4A. Sophomore Sarah Nacos leads the state with a median score of 75.5 strokes. Senior Deanna Peiffer ranks seconds with an average of 79.25 strokes.

Tee time is set for 10 a.m. at the Oakland Acres Golf Course in Grinnell.
