The postseason run for the Washington Demon girls’ golf team began at their home course Tuesday.The Demons hosted the 2016 Southeast Conference girls’ golf tournament, entertaining athletes from Fairfield, Keokuk and Mount Pleasant for the 18-hole event. All four scoring golfers for Washington posted rounds under 100 strokes, winning the league championship for a second straight year with the lowest score of 349. Fairfield took second place with 375 strokes, Mount Pleasant finished third with 392 strokes, and Keokuk was ineligible in the team standings, posting three individual scores.

Three Washington players earned spots on the first team All-Southeast conference team. Senior Deanna Peiffer ended her conference golf career as the medalist of the league, shooting a five over 70 to take first place honors. This is the second straight medalist honor for Peiffer. Sophomore Sarah Nacos finished two shots behind Peiffer, carding a seven over 77. Senior Brenna Burlingame concluded her league career as an all-conference golfer, placing sixth with a 18-hole score of 98 strokes.

The regular season concludes this Friday for the Washington girls’ golf team, competing at the Stone Creek Golf Course in a triangular versus Mount Pleasant and Williamsburg. Tee time is set for 4 p.m.
