Warm weather in Washington County is likely to aid anglers out on Memorial Day. Lake Darling Fisheries Biologist Chad Dolan says a lot of the fish in the lake have begun their spawning, which is leading them closer to shore making it easier for anglers to reach them.

Dolan is proud of the current condition of the lake, saying people can expect to find a nice lake with high water quality and clarity. Since they stocked the lake in 2014, he feels the fishery they’ve been building has become exceptional, with anglers catching bass well above the minimum length limit and crappies around nine or 10 inches.

Dolan says if it cools off, it may push the fish out into deeper waters, but feels confident the fishing will still be good at Lake Darling.
