The Mid-Prairie girls golf team is on the course at West Liberty tonight in their class 3A regional final.

The Golden Hawks will be joined on the links by West Liberty, Davenport Assumption and Centerville. Mid-Prairie advanced to tonight’s action with their runner-up team finish in the first round of regionals last week at Kalona.

On paper the meet looks tight. The Centerville Big Reds have the best team scoring average for 18 holes at 373. Mid-Prairie has the second best at 413, West Liberty is next at 414 and Davenport Assumption checks in at 415. Individually the Golden Hawks are led by Allyson Wertz who shot a person best 76 in the first round of regionals, she has a season average of 90 in 18 hole events. Paige Slabaugh is second with her average of 99.

The top two team scores from tonight’s meet along with the top five individuals advance to the class 3A state meet at Coldwater Links in Ames.
