Heavy rain showers swept across southeast Iowa Monday. According to Accuweather, Washington received three-quarters of an inch of rain Monday and has had a total of 1.72 inches of rain so far this May. The English River at Kalona rose over nine feet from Monday to Tuesday morning. Flood stage there is 14 feet and at 6 a.m. Tuesday it was at 14.35 feet.

Also, the Iowa River near Lone Tree rose 2.5 feet during the same time period, but remained below flood stage. More rain is in the forecast, listen to KCII for weather updates.
