The Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team ended their season in the second round of substate play Wednesday, falling to No. 2 Iowa City Regina 7-0 in Iowa City.

Regina grabbed momentum early, scoring twice in the game’s first 15 minutes. The Regals added one more insurance goal in the first half to take a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break. The scoring continued for the Regals in the second, they put tallies on the board in the 43rd and 45th minutes to stretch the lead to 5-0. Iowa City Regina would score twice more to put the game out of reach.

The Regals were led on the night by Emilio Tovar and his hat trick, Andrew Yowell added two goals. IMS finished the match with two shots on goal. Blake Bontrager made 15 saves in the loss. Iowa Mennonite ends their season at 7-10, Iowa City Regina advances to Saturday’s substate final where they will match up with Benton Community who was a 2-1 winner over Williamsburg on Wednesday.
