The Iowa Mennonite School softball team is set to take the field for the first time in 2016 tonight when they travel to Mediapolis.

Iowa Mennonite was 1-17 a season ago, their lone win came June 19th against Lone Tree 7-5. As a team IMS hit .184, scored 34 runs in 18 games and had a team ERA of 6.08. This season Iowa Mennonite enters the year with first year head coach Kathryn Ney. On the field IMS returns their two leading hitters in Averie Blauvelt and Suzanna Yoder. Blauvelt led the team with a .268 average, 15 hits, and five doubles. In the circle Hannah Harris also returns, she logged 90 innings a season ago with 6.02 ERA. Opponents hit .233 against Harris a year ago. She allowed 124 hits and struck out 24 batters.

Mediapolis finished 15-14 last year. As a team the Bullettes hit .305, scored 191 runs and had a team ERA of 5.17. The Bullettes return four of their top five hitters with Allie Massner, Mackenzie Petty, Ashley Machholz and Brianna Eberhardt all finishing last year with over .300 averages. Allie Massner led the way with 30 hits and 31 RBI. In the circle, ace pitcher Abby Eberhardt and her 70 innings pitched have graduated but Mediapolis returns Ally Vantiger who threw 59 innings with a 5.54 ERA last year and Lily Johnson who threw 39 innings with a 5.03 ERA a year ago. These two teams matched up twice a year ago with MEPO taking both, one by a 10-0 score the other 14-5. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7PM at Mediapolis.
