The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team opens up the home portion of their 2016 schedule tonight when Holy Trinity comes to Kalona.

IMS is at 0-1 on the season after dropping their season opener to Mediapolis Friday night 15-7. It was a game that saw the IMS offense come alive in the middle and late innings. Nick Yutzy and Drake Brezina had big nights, combining to go four for six with four RBI and three runs scored.

Holy Trinity struggled a season ago, going 1-18 in 2015. Their lone win came over WACO 4-3. The Crusaders scored 48 runs in 19 games, finishing with a .240 team batting average and a 9.36 team ERA. Holy Trinity returns their leading hitter from last year with Colin Thornton. He finished 2015 with a team best .451 average with 23 hits and eight RBI. Cameron Bahl led the team on the mound last year with 38 inning pitched. He had a 7.30 ERA with opponents hitting .309 against him. Bahl also recorded the team’s lone win from last year.
