According to the National Weather Service, May is off to a cold, wet start in Washington this year. Total precipitation for the first week of May has been observed locally at 1.26 inches, above the normal eight-tenths of an inch. Also, the observed average temperature has been 51.1 degrees, below the normal 56.9 degrees. The average maximum temperature is usually about 69 degrees and so far this month it’s been 60.5 degrees.

Looking at the overall year-to-date measurements, precipitation is below normal at 6.25 inches, while nine inches is normal for this far into the year. Rain is in the forecast for Washington through Monday, listen to KCII for weather updates.
