Washington middle school students are working to raise $3,000 so a six-year-old Washington girl can have a play set with a bumpy slide. Kamille is battling a digestive system disease and the Washington Middle School is working with Iowa Make A Wish to help her get the play set this summer.

Builders Club president Reece Mayer, a seventh grade student, explained the project was set up through Carol Tebockhorst, who spoke at the builders club earlier this school year. She contacted the club again this spring to say she had a local girl with a wish.

Principal Curt Mayer said it’s nice to see the students work together on such a project, they’re raising money with a hat day at school Friday and with other fundraisers. Seventh-grade student Sydney Cuddeback, secretary of the builders club said she hopes Kamille enjoys her new play set this summer.

Community members wishing to help with the program are asked to call the middle school at 653-5414. For the full interview listen to Thursday’s Washington Page on KCII.
