Police officers in Mt. Pleasant went above and beyond the call of duty last Tuesday to help babies. Lieutenant Lyle Murray of the Mt. Pleasant police department said that on May 10 at 7:40 p.m., and then again at 8:17 p.m., they received calls regarding women in labor. Responding Officers Elijah Gnann and Keith Dugger, as well as Investigator Ryan Pilling took part in the delivery of two babies in two different locations.

For Officer Dugger, it made for quite the interesting initiation, as he was on his first week of patrol duty after graduating from the academy, and got to experience something most officers will never experience in their entire career. The Mt. Pleasant Police Department is happy to report that both babies and both mothers are doing fine after their unique circumstances.
