Two members of the Washington Demon girls’ golf team have been recognized for their contributions throughout the season. The inaugural All-Iowa Girls Golf team was released this week and sophomore Sarah Nacos and senior Deanna Peiffer were named to the squad.

Nacos was one of five girls’ golfers across the state named to the All-Iowa Elite team, joining Paige Seiser of Waukee, Allison Olberding of Dowling Catholic, Emily Snelling of Clear Lake and Samantha Knight of West Monona. Nacos tops the Class 4A field in nine hole average at 37.43 strokes, 18 hole average at 75.4 strokes. She earned medalist honors at last Monday’s Class 4A Regional Final tournament at the Oakland Mills Golf Course in Grinnell, carding a 75.

Peiffer was selected as one of the five members of the Class 4A All-Iowa team. She ranks third in the state in nine hole average at 41.71 strokes, and second in 18 hole average at 80.8. Peiffer ended her conference golf career as the medalist of the Southeast Conference, shooting a five over 70 at the Washington Golf and Country Club on May 10.

The Washington girls’ golf team will conclude their season tomorrow and Wednesday, competing in the Class 4A state tournament held at Coldwater Links in Ames.
