Children as young as six-months old and non-verbal people will soon be able to get vision screenings done through Washington County Public Health, thanks in part to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. The Foundation awarded the department $4,781 to help purchase a Sure Spot vision screener that takes a photo of a person’s eyes.
Administrator of Washington County Public Health Danielle Pettit-Majewski said the remaining $2,000 to purchase the equipment will come from their Maternal Child Health Medicaid Revenue used to reinvest in their programs. Also, the Lion’s Club assisted with a letter of support in the grant application. The department is ordering the screener and will begin using it once it arrives and staff is trained.
