The Washington County Board of Health will discuss a variety of items at their meeting Thursday. Updates will be provided regarding a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant, Medicaid modernization, and the department’s building plans moving forward.

Also, the environmental health report will address a nuisance property in Riverside. Citing Iowa Code, City ordinances, and the Washington County Code of Ordinances, a letter was sent earlier this month to a property owner in the 100 block of Railroad Street. The letter from the City of Riverside and Washington Environmental Health Department states several complaints about the property have been received and the code sections cited refer to filth, weeds, household refuse and appliances, excrement of household pets, and infestation of animals or vermin. The property has to be cleaned up within 45 days of receipt of the letter, which was sent May 5th, or the City will be forced to take legal action.

The Board of Health meeting begins at noon at Orchard Hill.
