A company that owns a pipeline that crosses Washington County is looking to replace sections of it this summer and Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius said things are on hold at this time while regulations are reviewed. He explained at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, similar work was done in the Riverside area about six to eight years ago. Iowa Code states an inspector must be hired by the company to review the work and examine the impacts to agriculture land. Thorius explained the delay is due in part to the company researching to see if they fall under Iowa or federal guidelines. If they fall under federal guidelines then the inspection is not required. Thorius stated it may be on the agenda next week.
