The primary election is quickly approaching and the Washington County Auditor is reminding area residents to pre-register to vote. The primary will be held June 7th and registering early prevents delays at polling places. Voter registration forms can be filled out at the auditor’s office in the Washington County Courthouse, or can be found online – click here.

Iowa law allows same day registration and voting for those who are able to provide proof of identity and residency. To cast a ballot in the primary, voters have to declare a party, they cannot be independent, and can either vote in the Democrat or Republican primary. Party affiliation can then be changed the next day if desired.
