Twenty-two grants were awarded for a total $798,585 at Wednesday’s spring grant distribution held by the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. St. James, Highland, Mid-Prairie, Washington, and Keota schools all received grants for various projects, including $70,000 to help replace the home bleachers at Case Field in Washington. The largest grant of the evening was for $300,000 to the City of Kalona for their Community Center project. In March, residents of Kalona approved a bond referendum to help construct the center.
