An event that raised $60,000 for the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center last July is coming back to Washington this summer. The Second Annual Rock ‘n’ Ride will be held the second Saturday of July, July 9th, and registration is now open. The event is held in memory of Kim Friese and Karen Van Osdal, two local women who lost their battles with cancer. The Rock ‘n’ Ride has bicyclists bike from the KC Hall in Washington to Riverside and back, a total of 35.2 miles.

And this year they’re adding a three-mile fun run on the Kewash Trail before the cycling event. Following the bike ride there will be live music, dinner and a silent auction at the KC Hall for the Rock ‘n’ Relax.
