The boys’ soccer teams of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference will battle for league bragging rights later this week. The nine teams will compete in a single elimination tournament to decide the conference champion. Each game of the tournament will have two 35-minute halves instead of a pair of 40-minute halves played during the regular season.

The event begins with a play-in game this afternoon as the Highland Huskies (2-10 overall) will host the Mediapolis Bulldogs (2-12 overall) for a spot in the quarterfinal round. The winner will face the Columbus Wildcats (11-0 overall) in Columbus Junction. The match between the Huskies and Bulldogs is set to kick off at 4 p.m. today at Highland High School.

The Iowa Mennonite School (5-7 overall) earned the fifth seed in the conference tournament, and will travel to Fort Madison for another match versus the Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders (5-9 overall). IMS lost the first meeting versus HTC, 3-2, April 12 in Kalona.

The other quarterfinal matches pit the third seed Notre Dame Nikes (7-4 overall) against the sixth seed Wapello Indians (4-7 overall), while the second seeded Danville Bears (9-1 overall) host the seventh seed Central Lee Hawks (3-7 overall). All quarterfinal games will be played at 5 p.m. Friday.

The semifinal and championship match will take place Saturday at Central Lee High School. The first semifinal will kick off at 10 a.m. and the second is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. The tournament championship is set for 2 p.m.
