Thunderstorms swept across southeast Iowa early Thursday morning. According to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service at 2:40 a.m., a line of strong thunderstorms was affecting areas from Sigourney to Keosauqua. At 5:45 a.m. lightning was observed south of Ainsworth.

On Wednesday, Brighton received a quarter of an inch of rain. Wind gusts reached 23 miles per hour at the Washington Municipal Airport Wednesday at 12:35 p.m.
