Washington County’s pre-disaster plan needs updated and to do that the county is seeking a $30,000 grant. Larry Smith, Washington and Keokuk Counties Emergency Management Coordinator, explained it’s to update the pre-disaster mitigation plan. Smith shared there needs to be a 25% local match. He recommended an “in kind” match over cash. The new plan will include the cities of Riverside and Wellman in the county’s overall plan; they aren’t in the current plan. The supervisors approved the resolution unanimously.
