The top eight Class 1A boys’ golf teams will battle for state bragging rights today at Jester Park in Granger. One of the teams playing the central Iowa golf course over the next two days is the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves, who qualified for the tournament with a second place finish at last Friday’s district event at the Oskaloosa Golf Course.

The Wolves were led by sophomore Kaleb Hagge, who captured the Class 1A individual state championship as a freshman. Hagge carded a 77 during his 18-hole district round, placing him second overall. Senior Kolt Rossiter finished three shots behind Hagge, tying for third place overall. Sophomore Kash Rossiter posted a 90, while senior Darren Hunter rounded out the Wolves’ scoring with a round of 96.

The two-day event is scheduled to tee off at 10:30 a.m. at Jester Park in Granger.
