Washington County’s hazardous materials, or hazmat, agreement with Muscatine Fire Department will continue. At this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting the 28E agreement with updates in the funding was approved by the board. Larry Smith, Washington and Keokuk Counties Emergency Management Coordinator explained the fire department is changing it from a flat fee to 25 centers per capita based on the most recent census. The fee had been an annual fee of $1800 for at least 11 years. The funds for the program come from the emergency management budget.
