Both Washington Demon golf teams will begin the school week in competition.

The Demon girls’ golf team will spend most of Monday at the Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington, competing in an 18-hole invitational against Burlington, Central Lee, and Keokuk. Washington’s last outing saw the girls win a Southeast Conference triangular Thursday against Fairfield and Keokuk. Washington posted the lowest team score of 174. Fairfield came in second with a 193, and Keokuk finished in third place with a 254. Washington had two players card nine hole rounds under 40 strokes. Sophomore Sarah Nacos earned medalist honors, shooting a one under 35 for the event. Senior Deanna Peiffer concluded her round with a score of three over 39, taking medalist runner up honors. Today’s tournament tees off at 8:30 a.m. and will take place all day at the Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington.

Washington’s boys’ golf team will resume Southeast Conference match play this afternoon The Demons will travel to the Elks Golf Course in Keokuk, taking part in a league triangular versus Fairfield and Keokuk. Washington stepped out of conference play last Thursday, competing against South Tama and Clear Creek Amana at the Amana Colonies Golf Course. The Demons won the event with the lowest team score of 163. Clear Creek Amana took second with a score of 179, and South Tama came away with third place in 210 strokes. Washington junior Tanner Coleman won medalist honors for the meet, carding a four over 40. Senior Derek Anding and sophomore Dalton Myers each finished nine holes in 41 strokes, while junior Noah Enfield rounded out Washington’s scoring with 42 strokes. The Southeast Conference triangular is set to tee off at 4 p.m. and will continue into the evening at the Elks Golf Course in Keokuk.
