A free multi-session workshop is currently being offered to women landowners, farmers, conservationists, and any other women wanting to learn about agronomy in Washington and surrounding counties. These workshops, entitled Agronomy in the Field, are directed specifically to women in an effort to strengthen their agronomic skills. On May 2nd the first session was held, and the attendees learned about corn planting, germination, and emergence. The next session will be held May 16th from 5 to 6 p.m.

The workshops are sponsored, in part, by Julie Van Kamp, formerly of Cedar Rapids. She wishes to support women in agriculture, preserve farmland, and educate current and future farm women in Washington County. The sessions are all held at the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm by Crawfordsville. For more information, or if you would like to attend, contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
