Following heavy rains earlier this week, rivers in Washington and Louisa Counties rose near flood stage. From Wednesday to Thursday the Iowa River near Lone Tree rose nearly four feet to 11.73 feet. Flood stage there is 15 feet. As of 5 a.m. Friday the river was at 10.38 feet.
The Iowa River at Columbus Junction and at Wapello Thursday was within a foot of flood stage at 18.2 feet in Columbus Junction and 19.5 feet in Wapello. As of 5 a.m. Friday the river at Columbus Junction was 17.4 feet and it was 19.7 feet in Wapello.
