Two recent graduates from the KCII listening area laced up their soccer cleats one final time as high schoolers last Saturday. The Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Assocation held the 2016 East versus West All-Star Cup last weekend at Valley Stadium in Des Moines and Washington’s Christian Mejia and Mid-Prairie’s Noah Altenhofen took part in the event.

Mejia was a guest on this week’s PM Sports Page and discussed being part of the event, becoming the first Demon soccer player to participate in the senior all-star game. He said one of the highlights from the day included watching the Des Moines Menace practice. The All-Star Cup was won by the West Team, 4-1.

Mejia, who was the East team’s right outside defender, competed for the Demon soccer team for four seasons, accumulating 13 career goals. Altenhofen, who played center defense for the East squad, played two seasons of soccer for Pat Cady, scoring his only career goal in a 2-1 overtime shoot out victory over the Washington Demons.
