A Bible reading marathon was approved in May to be held at the Washington County Courthouse this weekend. The approval for a read aloud marathon on the grounds of the courthouse was approved by the Washington County Board of Supervisors. The Iowa Prayer Caucus Network held a similar reading in the rotunda of the State Capitol Building earlier this year, reading the Bible from cover to cover.

To read it in its entirety it’s estimated to take about 80 non-stop hours, or 320 people reading 15 minutes each. The reading is slated to start at 8 a.m. June 30th and end about 4 p.m. July 3rd. The reading will take place on the yard between the courthouse and the McCreedy building.

John Hartmann says they’re still looking for 25 to 30 more people to read. To sign up to take part contact Hartmann at 461-3836.
