The communications committee is holding a work session this week to discuss personnel recruitment and retention for emergency dispatchers. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting supervisor Jack Seward said it’s an important public service and statistics show that only a small fraction of the workforce may be suitable for the position due to the high-stress situations. His words came after the board approved a termination of employment for a trainee who had been there two months.

On May 31st, Seward explained there was strain on veteran members of the department due to being short-staffed and the department needing to be staffed 24 hours every day. The work session will be held at 8 a.m. Friday.
