Conditions for fieldwork in Iowa improved across the state as the calendar turned from May to June. According to the most recent report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, last week there were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork. In southeast Iowa, topsoil moisture is rated at 88% adequate and six percent surplus while subsoil moisture is rated at 88% adequate and four percent surplus.

State Climatologist Harry Hillaker added temperatures were above normal for most of the week with temperatures varying from an overnight low of 45 degrees in Forest City to a high of 90 degrees at Little Sioux.
