Another night of doubleheader baseball awaited the Washington Demons (10-7 overall) Monday. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demons welcomed the Mediapolis Bulldogs (11-6 overall) to Dick Sojka Memorial Field for a pair of non-conference contests. Washington split their fifth doubleheader this season, winning game one, 8-4, before losing game two, 9-4.

Washington’s bats produced 14 hits in the initial game, plating eight runs. Juniors Noah Enfield and Bryce Craff each scored two runs, while junior Zach Londberg earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs on six hits, walking no one and striking out one.

Walks and fielding errors plagued the Demons in game two. Washington allowed nine runs on six hits, falling in the second game, 9-4. Mediapolis sent 11 batters to the plate in the sixth inning, scoring six runs on two hits, forcing three walks. Londberg collected three singles at the plate, driving in a run and scoring another.

The split pushes Washington’s record to 10-7 overall. The Demons return to Dick Sojka Memorial Field tonight, hosting the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (6-8 overall) in a non-conference tilt.
