In Iowa, so far this year, 153 people have died in car crashes in the state. This is 24.39% more than at this time last year. According to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau in Iowa, a traffic safety trend has emerged over the last 10 years with 42 traffic fatalities on Father’s Day. Also according to the bureau, June 22nd has become the single most deadly day on Iowa roads. People are reminded to buckle up when traveling and obey the speed limit. Also, watch for motorcyclists and pedestrians, and avoid distracted driving.
