Drive sober or get pulled over this holiday weekend. Last year, during the three-day Fourth of July holiday 164 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes involving at least one driver with a blood alcohol concentration above .08 across the United States. The Iowa Department of Public Safety is reminding drivers arrange a way to get home safely, don’t drive if you’ve been drinking, always buckle up and don’t speed. This weekend in Iowa state and local law enforcement agencies will step up their efforts to eliminate drunk drivers and reduce speeding to protect the public. Iowa had no fatalities over the three-day Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2015 and the IDPS is hoping to repeat that this year.
